The productCatalogue
A wrong piece of metadata is a sale that never happens.
Every book's record with its ISBN, its Thema subjects, its ONIX and its delivery to the trade. Without copying anything by hand from one spreadsheet to another, and without a bookshop receiving an incomplete record that nobody notices until it fails to sell.
Contents
01What is in it
- Book record
- Title, subtitle, authorship, blurb, price, VAT, format, binding, dimensions and weight. Everything a distributor asks for, in one place.
- ISBN
- Your block, under control. One per edition and per format, with no duplicates and no gaps.
- Thema subjects
- The full official scheme, searchable. And BISAC where the destination asks for it.
- ONIX and delivery
- The record is generated and sent. If a mandatory field is missing you hear it from us beforehand, not from the distributor afterwards.
- Series and catalogues
- Group by series and produce the typeset PDF catalogue, carrying your brand, ready to send.
- A recommender for your site
- A widget drawing on your own catalogue, with no development to commission.
The scene
02Inside a book record
Sample data. Look at the ONIX and delivery status: that is precisely what saves you the call from the distributor.
El cuaderno de las mareas
- ISBN
- 978-84-127893-4-1
- Thema
- FBA · Modern and contemporary literary fiction
- Retail price inc. VAT
- 19,90 €
- ONIX
- Sent to the feed
Typed once. It travels to the distributor, to the author's site and to the bookshop listing.
The trade
03The vocabulary
- ISBN
- The international book identifier. One per edition and per format: the paperback is not the hardback.
- Thema
- The international subject standard the trade has used since 2013. It is what puts a book on the right shelf in an online bookshop.
- ONIX
- The format publishers use to send metadata to distributors and bookshops. Incomplete ONIX sells worse, and nobody tells you.
- DILVE
- The Spanish book metadata database. It is the door your catalogue goes through to reach the trade in Spain.
